About Susan Hoerth

These words describe the work of Susan Hoerth, a Wisconsin native who calls McAllen home for now. A nomad by nature, Susan explores life through a surreal nature and explores worlds and cultures, cultivating an image of places and imagery as she goes.
Her vibrant watercolor pencil studies add to this mystique by representing beautifully and unique people and objects in a surreal setting. Susan has studied watercolor pencil, collage, sculpture and drawing around the world in museum schools, artist’s ateliers and workshop settings. The solitude of her home and the quaint temperate evenings in Deep South Texas is a favorite haunt. Her most important influences, in addition to many surreal artists are the cultures she has visited and taught in around the world.
